Brookwood     Band

Register

The Brookwood Band is a fun group of beginning musicians representing Bristol Township

School District.  Students in grades 4th and 5th are encouraged to join the band!  No experience necessary.  We perform with over 200 members throughout our community. Our yearly performances include the Winter/Spring Concerts, Oxford Valley Mall, Trenton Thunder Game, Bucks County St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the Bristol Township Tree Lighting.  We also provide the school spirit at our monthly school assemblies!

We are excited for a new year in band. Please consider joining our wonderful group of young musicians at Brookwood Elementary School! Lessons take place once a week for 30 minutes during class time on a rotating schedule. There are no afterschool practices. There are a few evening performances throughout the year.

Practice and Expectations

Our band students meet for lessons in school once or twice a week for 30-minutes.  During this lesson, they receive training on songs and proper playing techniques.  We ask each beginning student to practice at home a little each day.  The real improvement is seen when a student plays everyday.  All of our practice happens during the school day.  There are approximately 6 evening performances throughout the year. There are no practices after school.  Students are responsible for work they miss in class due to their band lesson time.  Our lesson times rotate so students do not miss the same subject every week.

Our practice days will remain the same throughout the year.

Tuesday and Wednesday-  Beginning Flutes, Beginning Trumpets, Beginning Trombones,

Beginning Saxophones, Beginning Baritones, Beginning Bells

Thursday and Friday-  2nd year Flutes, 2nd year Trumpets, 2nd year Trombones,

2nd year Saxophones, 2nd year Baritones, 2nd year Bells.

Everyday-  Drummers will meet on random days because they don't have to bring their drum to school for lessons.  All drummers should leave their drums and sticks at home to practice.  When they are in school lessons, they will use school drums and sticks.

Discipline:

It requires a good deal of discipline to be a band member.  We perform with hundreds of students and represent our school with pride.  Students are expected to travel to their band lesson from their classroom without incident.  Students are expected to listen to the director and respect their fellow band members and band equipment.

If a student is unable to behave properly the following will occur:

1st offense-  Student will be asked to leave the music lessons and go back to class.  Parent/Guardian will be emailed regarding the reason.  Student can resume lessons the following week.

2nd offense-  Student will be asked to leave the lesson and sit out from the group until after the next scheduled performance.  Parent/Guardian will be emailed regarding the reason.

3rd offense-  Student will be asked to leave the band for a partial season either leading up to the Winter Concert or leading up to the Spring Concert.  Parent/Guardian will be emailed.  The student is welcome to try band again after that time period.

4th offense-  Student will be asked to leave the band for the remainder of the school year.  Parent/Guardian will be emailed.
